Quartz or Granite? That seems to be the million-dollar question if you tune into any HGTV shows like House Hunters. So which one is it? Is one better than the other, or is it more about aesthetics? Let’s go over the differences between quartz vs. granite, and you can decide which one you prefer.

Granite has a variety of colors and patterns due to the way it’s formed by the cooling and solidifying of molten minerals. No two granite materials are the same. The most common colors tend to be white, pink, or gray.

While granite has a wide selection, you would have to search for the right piece that matches your color scheme.

On the other hand, quartz countertops have the look of stone, and the best part is you can customize the design! This makes the selection process much easier. And did I mention quartz looks beautiful? It has an excellent gloss that will last for a long time.

Price of Quartz Countertops

The average cost to have granite for your home can cost anywhere between $2,000 and $4,000. The price can run even higher for hard-to-find pieces. Even if you save money by buying the materials from a wholesaler, it would still be pricey to have it installed.

With quartz, it can be as low as $1,500. Sometimes the price can be higher. It depends on a few factors, such as type, customization, preferences, and size.

You could try to install the countertops yourself to save money. Still, it would be a good idea to have a professional install it to make sure it’s structurally sound.

Environmentally-Friendly

Granite is not precisely environment-friendly. After all, it requires a quarry, and if you choose a high-end slab from another country, it would need considerable transportation. All of that uses up a lot of energy and resources.

Quartz is considered environmentally-friendly because it can be engineered locally. That really cuts down on the transportation distance. Not only that, but you’re also reducing the energy and carbon imprint.

Maintenance

The usual recommendation for granite countertops is to clean them daily with soap and water. Also, you would need to avoid some oils and acids, because they can stain the countertops. To make sure the granite countertops last, you would need to have them resealed once a year. Soap and water are recommended for quartz as well, but that’s about it. Yes, you read that right. No other maintenance would be needed because of the surface’s composite, and there’s no need to have it resealed.

Durability

Granite is durable and resistant to heat, but its porous nature can cause issues. For example, if some liquids are spilled and left sitting on the countertop, it can cause some damage. Any high-impact blows can also damage it. Believe it or not, quartz is harder than granite. So, that means quartz is much more durable and nearly indestructible. You don’t have to worry about leaving any stains on there, because it’s not porous at all.  However, there is an exception– quartz kitchen countertops can be damaged by excessive heat, so make sure you use heating pads under any hot pans.

Quartz Become The Best Choice For Stone Decoration

Quartz Become The Best Choice For Stone Decoration

The quartz stone is a rising star in engineered stone. The significant benefits of quartz countertops became clear to American consumers in the 90s, and their popularity grew swiftly. Quartz manufacturer like Quartz Master with excellent quality has now become one of the popular brands. Quartz engineering methods have been around for over 50 years, but this highly-durable material has only recently gained in popularity. Two key factors play a role in its rise in popularity. Quartz is durable, and it is easier to maintain than both marble and granite. In the past, quartz lacked in design, color, and beauty. But today, quartz can be engineered in designs and colors that ignite the imagination.
Quartz is not only the perfect material for designing kitchen and bathroom countertops, but you can also use quartz on wet bars, backsplashes, tub decks, wall cladding, tub/shower surrounds, and even furniture.

The benefits of quartz countertops have certainly won us over:

1. Consistent, uniform appearance.
2. Heavy, solid slabs make for great, long-lasting surfaces that can typically be installed in one piece.
3. Wide variety of colors – and unrivaled availability.
4. Exceptionally hard and durable.
5. Highly resistant to chips, dents, stains, and other surface damage.
6. Very low porosity which limits bacterial growth.
7. Heat resistant.
8. No need for re-sealing.
9. Low maintenance.
Taking advantage of quartz stone, quartz stone not only inherits the beautiful pattern of natural stone, but also has better performance than natural stone, such as strong hardness, temperature resistance, low water absorption, no bleed, etc., and 100% environmental protection, non-toxic radiation-free. Controllable thickness and size, richer colors and patterns make quartz stone a perfect substitute for natural stone.

WHITE QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS: BEAUTY WITH ELEGANCE

WHITE QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS: BEAUTY WITH ELEGANCE

White quartz countertops are a perfect choice for kitchen, bathroom or any spaces. The variety in texture, easy maintenance, and durability make quartz countertops a popular and ideal option for the professionals and homeowners.

Quartz is a contemporary addition to the countertop materials family. It is a man-made or engineered material. Quartz countertops are consist of crushed or ground quartz, which is the second most common mineral on Earth. Mixed with resins, polymers, and pigment; ground quartz helps to create a variety of textures and colors.

DURABILITY

Quartz is one of the hardest minerals in the world which gives quartz countertops a distinct advantage over materials such as granite and other natural stone. As we already know that the quartz countertop is man-made, it has all the benefits of durability and does not require sealing.

Water and other liquids will not stain a white quartz countertop. However, high heat can burn the material, so you should use a trivet under any hot cooking dishes. Be careful about bleach. Bleach can damage the white surface. Use any normal detergents.

EASY MAINTENANCE

White quartz countertop needs special care than other colors. But here is the good news; a white quartz countertop is very easy to maintain. The no-porous feature of quartz makes cleaning incredibly easy and stress-free. Granite and marble can absorb liquids because of their porous nature, which would lead to stains. But quartz is completely stain resistant.

White quartz does not need any kind of special cleaner. Harsh cleaning chemicals may damage the surface, so if anything spills, use simple soap, and warm water for cleaning.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS OF WHITE QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS

Calacatta Vagi

White quartz countertops come in with a variety of textures. Raphael Stone manufactures countertops that can be polished or leather finished. The polished countertop has a smoother and shiny finish. A leathered surface usually has a soft sheen to it but is much less shiny than the glossy look of a polished slab.

Most of the white quartz countertops have streaks and veins of black or grey which provide a great alternative to marble. Marble look quartz has the beautiful look of marble with all the durability and easy maintenance of quartz.

Go with Quartz Countertops, Skip Marble or Granite

Go with Quartz Countertops, Skip Marble or Granite

Most homeowners overlook the benefits of using quartz over granite and marble. Below are five reasons why quartz is the perfect choice for your next kitchen or bathroom design project.

Reasons to Use Quartz Countertops

Durability

Quartz is more durable than marble and granite, which tend to stain and scratch easily. Another attribute that homeowners like is that quartz, unlike marble and granite, never needs to be sealed. Marble and granite can be more costly over the long run as well. Both must be sealed as often as once a year. And quartz is resistant to heat, impact, and harsh chemicals from cleaning products. Raphael Stone uses 93% natural quartz and 7% resin when manufacturing their high-quality, durable, and non-porous quartz surfaces.

Affordability

Although quartz is much more resilient and durable than natural stone, it is still affordable. The price falls somewhere between that of marble and granite. Marble countertops can cost anywhere from $125 to $250 per square foot, and granite countertops can run between $100 to $225 per square foot. The price of quartz countertops can range from $75 to $185 per square foot. When considering cost, also keep in mind the long-term investment of ownership. As mentioned above, quartz never requires resealing. And Raphael Stone’s quartz countertops come with a lifetime warranty.
Design
Keep in mind that because quartz is an engineered stone, it allows for endless design possibilities. It is up to the manufacturer to keep pushing the boundaries. In 2011, Acher Cohen, President and Lead Designer for Raphael Stone, invented and perfected the marble design in quartz. For 12 months, he worked with engineers to create a method by which marble could be designed on quartz slabs. Today, Raphael Stone has the largest selection of marble designs.
The limits on design are only imposed by the engineers and the designers’ imagination.

Bookmatch

Quartz designs can be bookmatched, which is the process of matching two more adjacent surfaces so that the slabs replicate each other.
